Things are in the development stage. I have an initial listing of hikes but will be adding regularly as I continue finding places to recommend. You won’t have to sort through the entire blog to find places to check out.
Green Barren - a two kilometer round trip with a rewarding view.
Tor Bay Beach - the hike is a loop which can be done in either direction or, if preferred, restricted to the beach only.
Whitehead - higher on the difficulty scale, you must improvise as you go (no developed trail) but you can use the link for details.
Black Duck Cove – excellent paths and picnic areas make this a great place for those seeking an ocean breeze and beautiful coastline.
Chapel Gully – trail network located in the Town of Canso
Trans Canada Trail - lots of variety, many access points, multi-use
Loyalist Trail - interpretive panels at each end are highlights, a little over 4 km return
Guysborough – an 8 km figure eight in and near the town
Lundy Fire Tower - 2km hike from the pavement to experience a superb panorama.
Berry Head Lighthouse - scenic hike along the ocean beginning at Tor Bay Beach Park (see above).
Forster Island – one of my favorite places to photograph.
Wine Harbour – another favorite, not to be missed.
Old Fields – a great place to hike along the shore of Chedabucto Bay (near Canso).
Fire Tower in Giant’s Lake – pleasant hiking, quiet, secluded area.
Big Beaver Dam Lake – hiking on a section of the TCT near Salmon River Lake.
Hadleyville Headland – hiking at the edge of the Strait of Canso and Chedabucto Bay
Fogarty’s Cove – I didn’t make it all the way, maybe you can…
Liscomb River Trail – a fish ladder and suspension bridge are unique features.
