The Lundy Fire Tower is situated at one of the finest look-off points in the entire county. I tend to take this for granted. I live closer to it than anyone else. I can walk out my front door and be there in less than half an hour – less than five minutes in/on something with a motor.
Today I walked. It’s a nice workout due to the elevation gain. My house is 360 feet above sea level and the tower is 775.
The road was blocked earlier in the year due to a dispute between a landowner and DNR. A bypass now permits a vehicle to go around the rock barricade. Whenever I drive I always feel as if I’ve cheated. Going there on foot is far more satisfactory. You really get a sense of the terrain.
I was hoping for a decent sunset but no such luck there. There was an opening between the horizon and a bank of clouds which yielded about five minutes of very intense light as the sun emerged then quickly set. The glow cast an unusual hue – the spruce trees looked very red.
Every now and again I came across little bits of snow like a sprinkling of salt. I spent half my walk pretty much looking at my feet as I searched for interesting ground compositions.

I especially like the shots of leaves, weeds and the frozen puddle — another great collection of images
